Our heart is one of the major vital organs in the body and it has a special function in order for us to live. If you happen to wonder, a heart is a muscle, about fist size and located on the left side of your chest. It has a special role in keeping us alive and in good health, for the doctors will always say to keep our heart healthy. It is the heart that keeps the blood circulates around our body, carrying the much-needed nutrients and oxygen. It is also important in carrying out the waste away from our organs. The continuous beating of your heart is a sure sign that you are still alive. However, having a beating heart is not enough. You need to look after your heart health. Heart illness or disease is the number one cause of death both for men and women and according to the American Heart Association, more than 50 million Americans are afflicted with cardiovascular diseases. If you want to live longer, you need to look after your heart?s condition. Food is very important in keeping up with heart health. The food that we eat will determine how well we take care not only of our body but our own heart. You need to consult your doctor what kind of food is good for the heart and the kind of food to avoid. You need to start with your own healthy heart diet. Usually, doctors will recommend that out of the total daily calories intake, fat should only comprise less than 30 percent and saturated fatty acid 10 percent only. If you lessen sodium, MSG and caffeine in your daily food intake, then you are doing something good for your heart health. Keeping tab of your cholesterol level, daily exercise, healthy eating and many green leafy vegetables and fruits will help you keep up a healthy heart for life. A healthy heart can benefit from your healthy lifestyle. Avoid too much alcohol, stop smoking, and eat much food with fiber and soy products. If you take good care of your health especially your heart as early as today, you will reap the benefit of a long and happy life.
