The old proverb ‘an apple a day keeps the doctor away’ is much more important than most people realize. Apples have incredible benefits for the prevention of a wide variety of health issues. This includes a number of cancers like lung cancer, prostate cancer and colon cancer. The antioxidant properties contained in apples have been shown to help prevent heart disease, control cholesterol and aid weight loss. In lab studies apples have even shown to be powerful natural remedies for preventing dementia.
One of the most popular uses for apple as a natural remedy is as apple cider vinegar for fighting acid reflux. Acid reflux affects millions each year, some suffering severe symptoms which can cause long term damage. However instead of having to turn to expensive and dangerous prescription medications many sufferers are finding quick and easy relief by using apple cider vinegar as a natural remedy.
More recently apple cider vinegar has been proclaimed as a natural remedy and cure for urinary tract infections either by drinking to balance acid levels in the body or as a wash. In fact apple cider vinegar is now being used externally as natural remedies for a huge range of health concerns and being mixed with other ingredients like onion, egg whites and honey for treating age spots, arthritis, athletes foot, nose bleeds, bruises, burns, corns and callus, dandruff, diaper rash, eczema, insect stings and bites, jellyfish stings, nail fungus, warts and more.
Drinking a couple teaspoons of apple cider vinegar as a natural remedy is also being used by many to treat complaints like cramps, diarrhea, diabetes, coughs, constipation, morning sickness, hot flashes, sinusitis, sore throats and ulcers. Some people even swear by using apple cider vinegar for their pets for treating arthritis, fighting off fleas and ticks and improving the shine of their coats. While this article may make apples sound like the magical sure for everything this doesn’t mean you should be downing gallons of apple cider vinegar everyday. However sticking to the old proverb and eating an apple each day certainly may go a long way towards keeping you in great health for the long run.
