Build Your Church With The Perfect Church Picnic

Food and Religion

If you are look for a way to build up your church attendance, bring back lost members of your flock or just foster a closer bond with your church congregation a church picnic is a great way to go. The connections between food and religion go very deep and since the times of Jesus in the New Testament food has been a great way to get across the message of your religion in a relaxed and enjoyable way. Look at the references in the bible of Jesus feeding the five thousand and even the legendary last supper. It can take some planning, but it is sure to be a memorable experience and a great way to make new connections in the community. These days there are many families in need approaching churches with their needs for food even though they have never been really involved in religion. Instead of just dishing out free food without being able to share your message why not combine food and religion together and invite them to your upcoming picnic. First you need to decide on a location and date. It may be a great idea to hold it at a local park or beach where new people wont feel like they will be overwhelmed by religion. This will also give you the opportunity to meet new members of the community who are out that day and will get those with children out and hanging around longer. You will also want to have a back up plan just in case the weather tries to rain out your day. Organizing team games can also be a great way to bond and bring your day of food and religion together perfectly. When it comes to the food you can encourage your parishioners to bring their own dishes, but if you rely on it you could come up short and you certainly do not want anyone to be discouraged from coming because they arent confident about cooking something or do not have the money to provide it. Make sure you have plenty of back up. Some food for thought is to make sure you account for all types of diets and food preferences. You do not want anyone to feel uncomfortable, so make sure you have some vegetarian, vegan and perhaps even raw food dishes.
